We have been successful in receiving a grant from The National Lottery Awards for All for £19,964!
And we can’t be more pleased! We are entirely funded through grants and donations so can’t do what we do without them, so this grant will help us continue to support our Feed the Birds clients and their wonderful volunteers!

From Julia Bucklet MP – Congratulations to ‘Feed the Birds’, a local befriending service, as they have received a grant from The National Lottery Awards for All for £19,964. ‘Feed the Birds’ is a small Shropshire based charity that provides one to one befriending in peoples’ homes using garden bird feeding as the focus. Typically clients are often housebound and are no longer able to get outside, but a weekly visit and chat with a friendly service volunteer often provides joy and respite from loneliness, alongside a deeper connection with nature.
I met with the group previously and found their commitment to brightening up older residents’ days very inspiring. To see that they have won this award acknowledges their consistent efforts; providing them with better financial support to help them to carry on their services.
We clearly face a growing trend of loneliness in older people. Fortunately, ‘Feed the Birds’ offers tailored support to help older adults in rural areas stay socially connected, supported and happy.
