Keith and Joan

March 2026  ·

Small acts, big impact. ☕🌿

Keith and Joan are in their early 80s. Joan lives with dementia, and Keith, her husband of 55 years is her devoted main carer. They raised their family in the home they still share, but over time their social world has grown much smaller. With neighbours often out at work, days can feel long and lonely.

Keith worries about what the future holds for Joan if he’s no longer able to care for her alone. With support from Feed the Birds, we’ve been able to connect him with the Shropshire Carer Support Team, so he’s now getting the help and reassurance he needs.

And every Tuesday, our wonderful befriender Lucy visits, spending time chatting with Joan while Keith enjoys a simple but precious break making a cup of tea or pottering in his greenhouse, knowing Joan is safe and in good company.

Nobody should have to care alone. 💛

If you can, please consider donating to Feed the Birds through our website. Your support helps us provide companionship, respite, and vital connections for people like Keith and Joan.

Every contribution, big or small makes a real difference.
